Kennington House
Extension and remodelling of Victorian House
Date: 2025
Status: In Construction
The Methley Street project is a sensitive extension and full remodelling of a period property located within a conservation area in Kennington. Delivered in two carefully considered phases, the scheme was designed to both preserve and enhance the building’s historic character while introducing contemporary interventions that support modern living. Planning consent was secured for a rear extension that improves spatial flow, natural light and connection to the garden, using materials and detailing that respectfully complement the original architecture.
Alongside the extension, the internal layout was comprehensively reconfigured to futureproof the property, enabling a potential subdivision into two self-contained flats. The design balances heritage conservation with flexibility and longevity, retaining and restoring key period features while introducing refined, contemporary elements that elevate functionality and performance. The result is a cohesive transformation that safeguards the building’s historic identity while preparing it for evolving residential use.
